My plan to move to New York. Help?

I wouldnt bother with New York, i always wanted to go, travelled thousands of miles from the UK and was very unimpressed, dirty, grimy, miserable, unfriendly people, and not an awful lot to do to say its the "city that never sleeps". Real let down.
