Is there a reason to choose paper over styro?

I know several places which will take paper to recycle, and many kinds of plastic, but *NOT Styrofoam*. Not sure why, but that makes me prefer paper to styro. It affects my egg purchases, because one store sells eggs in paper crates, while most of the others sell in styro. crates.
