Is vintage dinnerware with "age crazing" still safe to eat/drink from?

I'm getting a beautiful vintage dinner service, and some of the pieces have some "age crazing," which I believe means a small crackling effect. Correct me if I am wrong. Anyway, I like the look of it. Does anyone know if pieces like that are unsafe to eat/drink from? In my opinion it's fine, but someone told me no, so I thought I'd see if anyone here knew... Thanks.
